| Application | The purpose of Dimethoxymethylphenylsilane is to be used in reactions with Li metal and Me3SiCl in THF to produce diastereomeric isomers of 2-[2,2-bis(trimethylsilyl)ethylidene]-1-methoxy-1-methyl-3,4,5-tris(trimethylsilyl)silolane. This reaction also results in the contraction from six- to five-membered rings, as well as the formation of the expected product dimethoxymethyl(Ttc)silane via a Birch-type reductive silylation process. |
