Methyltrimethoxysilane is a versatile organosilicon compound, primarily serving as a key reagent in synthesizing electronic materials and organometallic compounds. Known for its use in coating carbon-fiber surfaces and aiding in the development of nanocomposites, this compound also functions effectively as a crosslinker in preparing polysiloxane polymers. Additionally, it acts as an acid scavenger in the formation of substituted azulenes and serves as a precursor for flexible silica aerogels.
