Description | Methyltrimethoxysilane is highly miscible with standard organic solvents such as alcohols, hydrocarbons and acetone. Methyltrimethoxysilane is practically insoluble in neutral water, and only a slow reaction can form silanol and higher condensation products. The methyltrimethoxysilane can be used pure or in the form of a solution using suitable mixing equipment to treat the filler. It may be necessary to pre-treat the substrate with water and/or catalyst first. Methyltrimethoxysilane is also used in the production of silicone resins and condensation curing silicone rubber. |
