Silahexadecane

Silahexadecane is a common silane coupling agent used in the production of glass fiber reinforced plastics. The silane coupling agent has reactivity to inorganic substances, and the organic functional group has reactivity to organic substances. When the silane coupling agent exists, a bonding layer of organic matrix-silane coupling agent-inorganic matrix will be formed. Cetyltrimethoxysilane is a typical silane coupling agent that is commonly used to improve the hydrophobic properties of nanoparticles. Current research

Silicone products can be used as a wide range of additives in consumer products, daily necessities, paints, defoamers, adhesives et al, and can be used to improve their performance. Many silicones can be used as modifiers, which can modify nanomaterials to modify their hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS) can modify nano-SiO₂ and obtain a water contact angle (WCA) of about 170.9° and superhydrophobicity.
